Extremely rude approach from the store owner- I had accdientatly brought a small yogurt with me after purchasing hot chocolate and was eating it along with drinking the cafe bbought drink, and the stroe owner out of n where came from behind me and told me that " Don't I know how cafes work? Food is not allowed" I was really shocked about the lack of respectful customer service that one expects. I understand that food is not alloed ( I am an internaitonal studnet and the cafe had more of a canteen vibe so I assumed I could at there) They talk down to you in a condescending manner and when I made a formal complaint, I was told that that wasn't the intention and that "they were sorry I felt that way." I was told that what I had done wasn't normal practice, which completely divereged from my original complaint of how I was spoken too- mind you I had immediately put away my yogurt and was really hurt by the way the man had spoken to me. I have neer been spoken to this way during my studies in the UK, until now. I was unware od this rule- but the setting was really unclean and informal, and the way I spoken to like a child, not like a adult woman was hurtful and unnecessary to speak to a customer this way. Really ruined the expereince for me.
The cafe is on the top floor. It can get pretty busy but definitely felt productive here! Ended up sitting at a high-top seat for the outlet. The con was that it was pretty warm while I was there - not sure if that's normal or if the aircon was broken. Nice to walk through the bookstore afterwards.
