Used to be my #1 place, but I think they've grown tired of Laptop users. They are only open downstairs in the past few weeks, which is noisy, and not friendly to work in. Upstairs used to be amazing, I was always treated friendly and ordered something every hour, so not sure why it's always closed now.
The worst place I’ve ever worked in. I went there because me and my husband needed a good WiFi to join a work meeting. I ordered a coffee right after coming there, my husband started a meeting right after coming so he didn’t have time to check the menu. After 30 minutes my husband wanted to order a cheesecake, they said that was not enough and he needed to order something to drink (the price of the cake was higher than a coffee). He said he didn’t want a drink so we were kicked out and treated like shit. That was the first time in our lives that something like that happened and we work in coffee shops everyday. Never go there!
After checking out of our hotel, we found on Google a coffee shop recommended for its good internet connection. On arrival, wishing not to appear disrespectful and knowing I would have an online meeting, my wife ordered a Costa Rican coffee while I advised the waitress of my intention to order later. Twenty minutes later, after my meeting had concluded, a female employee approached with obvious annoyance, asking if I was ready to order. Indicating that I needed a moment to decide, I went down to the first floor to take a look at the available desserts. Deciding on a cheesecake, I returned to my table expecting to place my order, as we had been informed that the order would be taken at the table. The situation became unpleasant when, ten minutes later, a man, apparently the manager or owner, approached in a hostile manner to ask if I was going to order anything else. When I asked only for cheesecake and water, due to a medical condition that prevents me from consuming coffee, the man reacted aggressively and dismissively. He accused us of being the kind of customers he was tired of serving, refusing to serve us if we only asked for dessert. In addition, he reprimanded us for occupying a table with four chairs, even though at the time of our forced departure, there were multiple tables available and we had been previously told that we could sit wherever we wanted. We decided to leave after this humiliating treatment, paying for my wife's coffee before attempting to leave the premises. But the manager intercepted us at the entrance, initiating another discussion full of derogatory comments and haughtiness. In a moment of defensiveness towards my wife, who was visibly affected by the conflict, I raised my voice asking the manager to cease his mistreatment. This only served to exacerbate the situation, as he began to insult us with explicit words and offensively asked us to leave the premises. This experience in Vienna, far from being a simple misunderstanding, was a truly humiliating and disturbing encounter, marked by the abusive treatment and lack of professionalism of someone who should be welcoming visitors and locals alike. I warn future customers about the possible treatment they may receive at this establishment, in the hope that no one else will have to go through such an unfortunate situation. In my travels through 24 countries, I have never been treated in such a derogatory and insulting manner. This visit left a stain on our perception of Vienna, a city we had hoped to fully enjoy.
